custom workflow for office 365 using visual studio
I am using Office 365. I need to create a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2012. The workflow needs to be triggered whenever any Item in the list in the host web is changed and not in the app web. The app for SharePoint 2013 project allows you to create Visual Studio 2012 workflow project but there is no option to connect to existing list in the office 365 site.
Are Nintex Forms Interactive?
Hello Everyone,Question: Can you make a Nintex Form(s) interactive? What I mean by that is, can I make a short Nintex Form expand depending on the answers given by members as they complete the Form? Or is Nintex Form(s) static, where members complete all the answers on 1, 2, 3, 4 (etc.) pages?I would like to create a form that doesn't overwhelm our members with 100 questions - when, in fact, answering just a few questions may be all that is needed.Thoughts?Thank you!
Check for empty optional number parameter in workflow?
I'm working on a Component Workflow to replace and extend the discontinued inline function fn-Min. I wanted to make two numbers mandatory, but up to ten numbers could be entered to find the minimum of the list. The problem I'm running into is that I can't find a way to determine if a parameter (Initiation Variable) has been left blank. The blank numbers are just defaulting to zero, and I can't find a way to know that this substitution was made. I thought, maybe if I set the default value to something unique that I could look for. A Number variable is supposed to be equivalent to System.Double. System.Double supports NaN, positive and negative infinity, and negative zero. The Nintex UI prevents me from typing letters into the default value, but I was able to type and save -0. Unfortunately, I can't do the same in a RunIf action (it removes the "-" as I type), so there's no way for me to check for a value of negative zero, even if I had successfully defaulted to it. Is there any o
Hey so my organization is moving away front InfoPath and looking at potential alternatives and ease of access. We already have many InfoPath files so we ideally would want to migrate those instead of starting over completely from scratch.Currently I am heavily considering Nintex with Kudzu where it automatically converts your InfoPath files into Nintex. This will save a lot of time and effort if there are solutions available that would automatically convert the existing InfoPath files as well as for future use.I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to best proceed with away from InfoPath. Any advice would be great
Summing Variables: Summing 28 Variables with a Function
Good morning everyone,I have 28 variables that I would like to add together to get a total amount. Would anyone know how to do that with a Function? Otherwise, I could go the long way and perform "Do Calculation[s]" functions multiple times.Thank you for your thoughts and time.
Email User based on form option chosen
Hello I have a form and associated workflow where the requestor filling out the form can select from multiple approvers. I'd like to the workflow to send an email to the approver chosen. Currently I have a state machine running branches to all 7 approvers. Is there a way I can associate the sharepoint list to the name of the person so it will send the approval request to the approver without the state machine? Any advice?
Autofill: Script/Coding language to then populate a field.
Good morning everyone, and Happy Friday!I've been assigned a task to write code to Autofill/Auto populate a field based on key words. Would anyone have any pointers/links on how I might start?Thank you! (I have to write code to autofill "Add to a Portfolio" from key words taken from "Describe the Solution").
Group of fields read only in New Responsive Designer for SharePoint Online
Is there a way we can make group of fields read only in new responsive designer form for SharePoint Online. In classic, we have a panel and we can set panel to read only based on the status. How can we achieve this in responsive form. 1. Item level permission won't work, since only group of fields need to be read only. 2. Dont want to set a rule to each field, since I have more than 20 fields.
"Choice" data type for Component Workflow input?
I'm guessing this is a bug/missing feature, but maybe I'm just overlooking something. I hope someone here can confirm. I tried to set up a component workflow with a "choice" input. This would be for choosing a parameter from a list of fixed options. I was able to create a variable of type "Choice" and set the Initiation to yes. I was able to enter the list of options. When manually starting the workflow, the choice input correctly shows up as a drop-down selection box. However, when I add the component workflow to another workflow using the "Run Component workflow" action, the choice input is missing. The other inputs are there. If I replace the choice input with a text input, it shows up. This is risky though since there's no way (that I know of) to leave a note saying "these are the values you can type here."
Switch Function: Choosing a Nintex List path to operate the Switch Function.
Hello everyone & good morning.I need help setting up a Switch function at the beginning of my Workflow. Switches are easy and straightforward, but with one little problem. It requests a "Select the variable to evaluate." Since I want the Switch to choose the List Name of "Problems", there is no variable to choose from, since that is the List's name.Any thoughts?Thank you.
Workflow Terminate Action shows as Unsuccessful in Nintex Analytics
We are using Nintex O365 and have several cases where we issue a "Terminate Current Workflow" command in our workflows. This is intentional and we would like it not to be considered "Unsuccessful" by Nintex Analytics. Is there any other action we can use to terminate a workflow so Nintex Analytics does not consider it unsuccessful? I know we have the option to recode the workflow with a Run If or Conditional Branch, but these are very complex workflows, and that would take a lot of time and testing. Goring forward, we plan to code it in such a way that we do not need to use the "Terminate Current Workflow" action, but I'd like to find out if there is anything else we can do for now.
Aggregation of Amounts Generated from Seven Questions
Good morning everyone,For those that might be able to assist: I've developed the following format for seven questions in Nintex List:Question #1 Response #1 format = 0|[Answer] Response #2 format = 1|[Answer] Response #3 format = 3|[Answer] Response #4 format = 9|[Answer]Question #2 Response #1 format = 0|[Answer] Response #2 format = 1|[Answer] Response #3 format = 3|[Answer] Response #4 format = 9|[Answer]Etc.. Each question can only have one response, with the corresponding number/amount. How do I tally the seven response amounts into one amount (in Nintex Forms)?Thank you for your thoughts and help.
Calculated Value: Calculate a Value from a drop-down response.
Hello Everyone, I'm trying to Calculate a Value from a text response in a drop-down menu. The drop-down menu has four choices; (1) Neither driven by or impacted to business initiative, (2) [Answer], (3) [Answer], (4) [Answer]. I would like answer (1) to equal 0 if selected. I would code answers (2), (3) & (4) accordingly. The List = Problems. The List Name = Impact of the effort - View. The drop-down question is Impact of the effort. My attempt at coding looks like this: If("Neither driven by or impacted to business initiative","0","999") Connected to: Impact of the effort Save: Integer Recalculate: Yes, Yes, Yes. Thank you for your time & help.
"Add item to Collection" action - what's the difference between "Target Collection" and "Output"?
I'm working on migrating existing workflows to O365, and I need to replace all the existing Collection actions. For the new "Add Item to Collection" action, there are separate mandatory parameters "Target Collection" and "Output." Since I'm adding an item to a collection that already exists, I don't understand why I would need to specify more than one collection. Add item to collection (nintex.com) Field Description Target collection Collection variable that you want to add the item to. Select from the drop-down list or create a new variable. Index Index (location or counter) of the item to add. If the index value specified is larger than the size of the collection, then the item is added to the end of the collection. Value Value associated with the item. Output Collection variable to store the collection with the added item.
It only works some of the time
I have a list and it has 3 sections to it, "New Hire" ,"Break Fix" and "Returns" . I use the "Title" field as the "Computer Serial Number". You first pick if it's a New hire, Break fix, or Return. At start they all are hidden so you only see one type at a time. So the odd thing is:New Hire> Computer Serial Number> 12345 - No data storedBreak Fix> Computer Serial Number> 12345 - No data storedReturn>Computer Serial Number> 12345 -Data Stored I saw this and deleted the New Hire and Break fix "Computer Serial Number" and then copied and pasted the "Return" "Computer Serial Number"... still same result. I have checked all the "connected to" and they all match. How the hell did I find .5 in Binary... I have a gut feeling it's because of the "title" field but why some times and not others..... Thanks in advance.
Give Item Permissions to anyone with a Link
I am using a workflow to set permissions for each item in a list. The workflows sends an email to users with permissions. However those users are forwarding the email to other's who do not have permissions. We are OK with anyone who has the link to have access to the item. Is there anyway to grant permissions to anyone with a link?
Run If or a regular conditional action?
Outside of run ifs having 1 output path vs 2 when discussing a conditional action, what are the pros/cons of using either? Is there a large enough performance difference between the two to warrant one over the other?More specifically, even in a situation where you only need one path, does it really matter which action is used?
Nintex form on a Microsoft PowerPage Iframe on a PowerPortal receiving parameters not working
Hi,I have searched everywhere and tried al kind of things to get this working. Until now unsuccesfull. The situation: We build a Nintex form, wich is connected to Sharepoint Online lists. If a user logs in the form gets two parameters (user and organisational ID) and with this information other data is lookedup about the user. This works fine...... Until we we place it in a Iframe on a Microsoft powerpage. The idea is we like to use the credentials of the logged in user and get the parameter values from their and pass them to the Nintex form. Some information i found talks about security policies, and using fluid template wich is build in Powerpages. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/content-security-policyhttps://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Portals/Powerapps-Portal-Pass-parameters-in-IFrame-src/td-p/556306It all has the same result: It looks like it are two different worlds who will not communicate with each other. I tried with making a standard HTML p
