The Regular Expression action is an extremely powerful action for splitting text, replacing text or getting data out of text.  Don't be worried about not knowing how to put Regular Expressions together.  There are a number of sites online that give you the basics of it.  In this post, I'll give you some quick tips on how to get data that you may need.Splitting TextThere are times where you will be getting data from lists, from web services, databases or elsewhere, where the data comes to you in a delimited form.  Either comma delimited, as in CSV files, or semi-colon delimited, as from some accounting systems or some other delimiter.  If you need to get the data into a Nintex Workflow collection variable, you can use the Regular Expression action to split the data based on that delimiter. Notice that the first data entry field to fill is in the pattern.  When doing a split, this is the delimiter.  The character or characters that will be used to split a piece of text.  The operation is

Have you ever wanted to make the options displayed in a radio button control (single choice control) dynamic?  For example, we have a menu that changes daily across all three meal types (breakfast, lunch and dinner).  Here’s an example shown in a SharePoint list for today’s menu: In the past, if you wanted to present these dynamically, you’d have to create 3 choice controls (one each for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and hide the ones that weren’t needed via a rule.  Then when the user has made their selection, you also have to know to retrieve the value from the meal type that was selected.  All off this is pretty straightforward but at Nintex, we’re not satisfied with straightfoward - we want it to be fast and easy. So you might have seen @SimonMuntz’s recent post on using data source variables with the single choice control.  That’ s exactly what you’d use for this scenario. First, you have to set up your data source variable.  Here’s the help topic on doing this if you need some ass

I was recently approached by a customer asking if there was a way to add an image into the email body of an NWC email. While the rich text controls let you do a certain amount of formatting (like lists and bullet points, or heading fonts), sometimes you just want to have more control over what goes into the email body. The solution here does require a little bit of light HTML, but it's honestly so simple, you can definitely get it set up even without any HTML or programming experience. The trick is, to set a text variable with the HTML tag for an image. Here's the code I used in my sample: <img src="https://gallery.nintex.com/assets/images/Community_Logo.png"/> You are going to need to find a place to host the image. If it's a company logo, you might not have to look any further than your own company's website. Just be sure to copy the image URL. The action you're going to need to use is "Set a Variable Value". The choice Single control now has an Insert tab for the choice options in the control’s configuration. This allows for a Data Source Variable to be selected.Inserting a flattened collection from a data source into this field gives you a dynamically generated list of choices.An array of objects can also be selected. When an object is select, two new fields will appear in the control’s configuration. The fields are “Option label” and “Option value”.Option label will display the text for the choices. Option value is the value that can be used elsewhere in the form or passed to the workflow.  For example, the option label may show a list of states of the United States of America.
