The Nintex Modernization team has launched an exciting new four-part webinar series, aiming to support and guide our customers through the process of Migrating to Nintex Workflow (formally known as Nintex Automation Cloud).
Whether you are managing the migration independently, leveraging a partner, or utilizing our Upgrade Center for support, these webinars will provide valuable insights on where to begin and how to navigate each phase of the process.
Webinar #2 Recap: Upgrading Your Workflows
The second webinar focused on the topic of Upgrading Your Workflows. We walked through best practices and strategies for leveraging our upgrade tooling to ensure a smooth and successful migration. Our customers had the opportunity to gain insights from our team of experts, see a live demo of the upgrade tooling, and have their questions answered during a live Q&A.
In the second webinar of the series, we covered the following:
-
Migration Pre-Requisites
-
Executing on Your Project Plan
-
Live Demo of the Upgrade Tooling
-
Testing and UAT Best Practices
If you missed the second webinar, don’t worry! You can watch the OnDemand recording here:
Webinar: Migrating to Nintex Workflow – Upgrading Your Workflows

The Nintex Modernization team has been working hard to share best practices and upgrade support by posting new articles in the ‘Upgrade to Nintex Workflow’ Customer Content Portal. The articles and additional references that support the topic of Upgrading Your Workflows are referenced below. These provide more in-depth information on the topics discussed in the webinar – so you have everything you need to get started with your migration efforts.

Below are the questions that were answered during the live Q&A on the first webinar:
-
If we have a Flexi Task in our on-prem workflow with Nintex form and custom code, JavaScript, CSS, etc., would it be possible to migrate it too?
-
Currently, custom code will not come over with the migration. JavaScript is not supported; however, CSS is supported and can be added to forms.
-
-
Is it best practice to migrate the list form, or can I keep it on the list? Will that go away in time?
-
List forms will remain. The only change that needs to happen is you will need to use the new SPFx app, which only supports "New Responsive" design. So, if an existing form was designed in "Classic" mode, the form will need to be converted to "New Responsive" format (tooling is included in the form designer). From there, you’re able to use the SPFx app. We recommend moving your forms to the new SPFx app before the deprecation date.

We have on-prem workflows developed on Nintex but using custom code for front-end. We use Nintex Workflow APIs to initiate or update WF actions from the client end. Would it be the same if we migrated to Nintex Workflow in the cloud?
-
No, they would not be able to do that. There are APIs available within our SDK, but they are focused primarily on workflow management, rather than actions:

-
-
We will be migrating from Nintex for SharePoint on-prem. Is there a table of corresponding actions in Nintex for SharePoint on-prem and those available in Nintex Workflow?
-
Yes, there is. Here you go:

-
-
How do workflows using Flexi Tasks currently work with the upgrade tool? I didn't see a "Flexi Tasks" action in the new Nintex Workflow when looking around our Dev environment.
-
The action in Nintex Workflow is now called "Assign a task to multiple users." Here is a link to the applicable Help documentation: https://help.nintex.com/en-US/nwc/Content/Designer/Actions/AssignaTasktoMultipleUsers.htm
