At Nintex, one of the most common questions from prospective and existing customers is, "Can you integrate with [insert name of] application?" We understand that our customers rely on a vast amount of additional third-party applications every day, which makes connectivity even more integral to expanding and consolidating your process automation solution. Nintex is accelerating a connector rollout over this next year and beyond. I'm excited to say we have two new connectors for our customers and will be delivering a number more in the coming months. The new connectors available are: Trello Google Directory Trello: Trello is a web-based Kanban-style list-making application which is hugely popular, even in large organizations. Trello is a powerful, free and versatile tool perfect for simple integration to accompany Nintex Workflow Cloud. Trello's flexibility means customers can use it in a wide range of use cases, making it perfect for integration into NWC. The connector we have develope
Preview from: About process standards Standardization – especially amongst knowledge workers – is a word that rarely elicits excitement from those who hear it. On the contrary, it tends to lead to furrowed brows or, if you are lucky, shrugged shoulders. Many people – and I have been there myself – feel like any talk of “standards” or “standardization” is an attack on their personal liberty. After all, “what business does that process have telling me how to do my job!?!” For those who understand the benefits of standard processes and want to make those benefits available to workers throughout an organization, it is vital that we understand and properly address all valid concerns while clearing up common misunderstandings associated with the concept of standardization. Have you ever had a problem that you knew was possible, you've seen it before, or you just know that the fundamentals of the problem should be solvable. We I will admit that I had one that stumped me for over two weeks. I was talking to a friend of mine about using Parent/Child List items and how to automatically tie them together and create them within one form. Without hesitation, I was like, "Sure that should be simple, just input information into one form, then use a workflow to sift through (loop) and create child items from the one list." Note to self: Do not commit to a solution before writing it out! Honestly that sounded really simple in theory and should have been, but when I started down the reality path of developing the solution, it became a real brainteaser. I thought about using InfoPath, SharePoint, and Nintex Forms, but each time I got stumped at how to exactly get the child items into the list in the first place. After spending several hours looking through this
Everyone has a different data model in Salesforce. But there are common elements to every use case no matter how complicated. You have Objects, Fields & Reports. This means when you want to create dynamic documents out of Salesforce data you need to dynamically replicate it on the page. Sometimes there are 3 records sometimes there are 40 Related. Either way the methods are the same to reach the data. There are five main ways to replicate data with Drawloop Dynamic Document Generation… Row Table Grouped Section Hierarchy Documentation for reference: https://help.nintex.com/en-US/docgensf/Templates/Replication.htm *In this article I am going to focus on the two most common ways… Row & Table. Row Replication “I have an Opportunity and want to display the related products in a table.” This is a common quote to cash use case. Swap out the objects for custom ones and the use case changes. What doesn’t change is the calorie burn to set this up. "I have data related with a one to man
Introduction Repeating sections are very powerful if you want to create 1 to many relationships within your Nintex Forms. However, they come with some caveats when you need to parse, use and display the data stored within them. This blog post introduces you to the Repeating Section Control, explains the parsing issue in depth and explains some existing solutions that was created earlier by the Nintex community. At the end of the post, I will introduce you to a Custom Field Type that I created to help non-technical users quickly display the Repeating Sections Data in List Views without creating Workflows or getting their hands dirty with XML, XSLT or Java script. So, what is the repeating section control? The repeating section control is basically a container, which means that any controls added in the repeating section in the design time will be replicated in the runtime when the end-user clicks to add a new row. The end-user can also click the “x” icon to remove rows. Using Repeating S
A customer recently asked if they can use the new Data Lookup control and Data Sources in Nintex Workflow Cloud with an anonymous form. The answer is Yes, if it is not an embedded form. This video will show you how its done. Cheers,Euan
The “User Interaction” category of workflow actions in Nintex Workflow provides extremely useful functionality for human interaction with workflows. These actions handle assigning tasks, prompting for information, and sending alerts to users. The “Assign To-Do task” workflow action assigns a workflow task and sends a notification to one or more users to complete. The task assignee must perform the task and mark it as complete via a workflow task form before the workflow can continue. The action configuration allows workflow designers to use an existing or create a new content type that inherits from the “Workflow Task” parent content type. The workflow task form that is generated for the “Assign To-Do Task” action uses the default SharePoint workflow task form, even if you create a new content type via the Nintex user interface. In order to complete the task, a user must change the Status field to “Completed” (see the images below). My experience so far is this process is not very
By @paul_hsu If you ask an executive in any company this question: Would you like to become operationally excellent? Without a doubt the answer would be a resounding yes, even if the executives didn’t know what operational excellence means. It just sounds….right. Conversely, no companies would ever agree to be just operationally mediocre when they know that they have the ability to take it to the next level. So, assuming we are aligned on the above, then the question becomes: What is operational excellence and how does one achieve it? Achieving operational excellenceA search on the internet yields many definitions, such as “the ability to see the flow of value to customer and fix the flow when it breaks down” and a “philosophy of the workplace where problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership results in the ongoing improvement in an organization.” These are right in their own terms, but at Nintex we put it simply as the execution of the business strategy more consistently and reliably tha

The first time I worked with attachments in a workflow, I ask where are the attachments stored and how can I show all attachments in the following workflow tasks to give an approver the possibility to read the attachments. I have attached an NINTEX 2013 example site workflow using NINTEX Forms 2013. A prerequisite is the installation of the Get List Item Attachment in Base64 Custom Action from Vadim Tabakman (see http://www.vadimtabakman.com/nintex-workflow-get-list-item-attachment-in-base64-custom-action-happy-thanksgiving.aspx). In the first Flexi Task you can add multiple attachments. The task IDs are stored in the workflow variable task_ids This attachments are stored in the task items of the Flexi Task.If the Flexi Task is approved an item is created in a data list. To copy the attachments from the task item(s) to the list item the following steps have to be executed in a loop for each task ID:Call web service Lists.asmx with method GetAttachmentCollection to get the URLs of all

This post is now out of date and updated information can be found here. Many customers and organizations have workflows with a small number of actions to automate different business processes and help bring efficiency into the organization. Recognizing that this is a common scenario, Nintex has introduced a concept called Limited Action Workflows to help customers understand what will or will not be counted against the their workflow allowance. What is a Limited Action Workflow? Workflows that have less than or equal to five actions and don’t start another workflow will be considered as Limited Action Workflows. These workflows will not be counted towards the workflow allocation. This will allow customers to automate simple common business scenarios without adversely impacting a customer’s workflow allowance. For example, a simple approval workflow to route a document to my manager for approval which consists of three simple actions would be free. Are there workflow actions that canno

In both personal and business situations… online forms are used to capture and gather data. Sometimes a form asks more then is actually needed or required. When a form hides these situational fields from users that don’t need to fill them out “confusion-itis” is less likely to happen. First Name: KevinLast Name: McCallisterEmail: kmccall@alone.comNew Customer: YesHAR#: ?????? - huh? Kevin is a new customer. He doesn’t need to fill out the HAR#. I could add a note/direction next to the HAR# field telling him not to fill it out if he is a new customer… but as that helps some… even with a note… I sometimes don’t notice the sign my wife puts on the dishwasher to empty it. Unlike the dishwasher where the appliance technology doesn’t exist to make it invisible when its not needing attention… Nintex has solved this issue in its FORMS technology!!! THE RULES TAB Below is an example of the values that we need. The second table for existing customers is only needed to be answered and filled if t

Not only can users now delete data sources, but they now have the ability to control which users can edit a data source and who can consume it to bind data to the data lookup control. When saving a data source, a permissions dialogue will appear displaying the existing permissions along with edit access, if that user is also the connection owner. Details on the permissions each of the key roles have been outlined below: Connection Owners (owners of the connection used in a data source):The only users that can “Share” the data source with other users by defining who are data source editors and users Will have edit access to the data source and will be able to change the configuration Will be able to delete the data source Can use the data source in forms to bind to a Data Lookup Control Data Source Editors:Will have edit access to the data sour
Preview from: Process purpose informs process language Have you heard the adage: “It’s not what you say – it’s how you say it.”? In the world of process management (and reality in general), this is only half true. A more accurate statement would be: “It’s not only what you say, but how you say it.” “What you say” and “how you say it” should be greatly determined by the purpose you have for saying it in the first place. Speaking specifically of process documentation, “what you say” is the content of the process. “How you say it” is the process language you use to communicate the content to others. The purpose you have in documenting and communicating the process should stem from the process customers – the end users. What is their purpose for having process documentation? Knowing that, you have a greater chance of saying the right thing in the right way. See full post here: Process purpose informs process language
Adobe Sign New Hire ScenarioThis scenario steps through the process of using the Adobe Sign action to send documents for digital signing with the Adobe e-signature platform. Scenario: Your HR department wants to automate the new hire process. Currently, the hiring manager contacts HR to begin the contract process. But with an automation process, the hiring manager fills out a form that populates a template, which is then sent out for digital signing using the company’s Adobe Sign account. The new employee signs the contact and the documents are automatically sent back to HR. Create a list and formFirst, create a list and a corresponding form. This information is used to populate the contract you send out for signing. Nintex App Studio provides us with the ability to create a mobile application specific to the scenarios/use cases you are automating. This is made up of a combination of aesthetic changes (logos and colour schemes), tailored content (showing only the forms relevant to the use cases) and extra features not available on the standard Nintex mobile application (custom content). This post will focus on the custom content that you can add. What do I mean by custom content? Your app can contain any type of "file" that your mobile phone can read. e.g. Pdf documents, MS Office documents, videos, pictures, and here's where it gets interesting, HTML files/web pages. To add any content, add a menu item and select "Content" as the type:I recommend naming the menu item using a single word without spaces e.g. CompanyPolicies. You can use spaces however some devices will have trouble linking to this. Once you have created this menu item, you can add any of those files I mentioned above up to 50MB w
