Failed to Start (Retrying)
ERROR CODE
RESOLUTION
Verify there is only one instance of the Nintex Workflow Scheduler installed in the farm:
  1. Navigate to Central Administration > Monitoring > Timer Jobs > Review Job Definitions.
  2. Scroll through the list to find Nintex Workflow Scheduler.
  3. If there is more than one instance of the Nintex Workflow Scheduler they will need to beĀ uninstalled and re-installed.
Verify that the SharePoint Workflow Timer Service is only running on servers that are also running SharePoint Foundation Web Application Service
  1. Navigate to Central Administration > System Settings > Servers in this Farm.
  2. Identify all the servers running SharePoint Workflow Timer Service.
  3. Identify all the servers running SharePoint Foundation Web Application Service.
  4. If there are any servers running the SharePoint Workflow Timer Service and *not* running the SharePoint Web Application Service, disable the SharePoint Workflow Timer Service on those servers.
Check the design of the scheduled workflow to ensure that it has a valid end state and will not continue endlessly.
