Is it possible to attach the attachments from the item properties to the task notification email? This is a requirement for me and I do not see an option in the Task configuration to do this. Any help is appreciated

You can't attach a file but in the email body you can insert a URL to a document stored in SharePoint.
If needed the URL can be a combination of Workflow Context (for the base address) followed by a Workflow Variable (that relates to a dynamically created document) or static text.
