Using the Lightning Design theme, the arrows on the calendar date picker don’t show up unless you hover over them:

+18I’ve also found that with the classic mobile theme the calendar popup background is transparent (although that was pre 7.12… I haven’t checked it since).
+11Thanks for letting us know about this Joe! It’s been fixed now, thanks in part to you. Also, the fonts on datepickers should look nicer now.
+11I don’t believe we have a calendar component for mobile, perhaps you’re referring to something else?
