Issue

In version 17.8 of RPA Bot, we released a new feature that will take your botflow and convert all targeting actions from one browser to another. You can convert:

- IE to Chrome

- IE to Edge

- Chrome to Edge

- Edge to Chrome

When converting actions, please note that any Open App actions will need to be manually converted to a new Open App or one of the newer actions, Open Edge or Open Chrome. We suggest using Open Edge or Open Chrome unless you are converting to IE.

Resolution

If converting from IE to Edge, you will need to make sure that Edge is not running in IE Mode. You can go to the settings page of Edge and then to the Default Browser section and in the Internet Explorer Compatibility section, change:

- Let Internet Explorer open sites in Microsoft Edge to Never.

- Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode to Don’t Allow.

Then reload your browser and check to see if the Internet Explorer icon is present to the left of the address bar. If it is still there, you may need to ask your IT Department to restrict Edge from running in IE mode.

Alternatively, try to open your app in Chrome. Most, if not all, of Fiserv’s apps are able to be open in Chrome now. They have been migrating since, at least, the beginning of the year. We always recommend using Chrome for your default browser if possible.

Additional Information

The Chromium Extension that you need to install for RPA to interact with a browser actually converts Edge to Chrome so that it can interact with it. So, there is really no difference between running in Edge or Chrome, except for IE Mode in Edge. Chrome does not have IE Mode so you would not have the above issue.
