As a best practice we recommend that regular backups are made to prevent loss of botflows in unforeseen disaster recovery situations.
Instructions
There are two ways to backup your botflows and we suggest that you perform both of these regularly. More often if you are making a lot of edits to your botflows.
First, make a backup of your RPA Central Databases. The databases are named the same no matter if you are using SQL Express, which is the default when installing RPA Central, or SQL Enterprise.
- Stop your Nintex RPA Central service.
- Navigate to c:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile and make a backup of the 4 databases you see there:
- RPACentralKeys.mdf
- RPACentralKeys_log.ldf
- RPACentralWeb.mdf
- RPACentralWeb_log.ldf
- Restart your Nintex RPA Central service.
These databases contain all of your botflows that show in RPA Central, your user information and license information.
Second, make a copy of your botflows:
**The Bulk Export option shows in v17.12 and later versions of the Bot. It can be accessed in earlier versions. If you cannot upgrade to the newest versions, please contact Support and we can assist in showing you how to Bulk Export.
- Open the Bot.
- Open any botflow.
- In the top toolbar click 'Botflow' and choose 'Bulk Export'.
- You can change where you want the botflows to save when the box pops up. We suggest saving in a shared file for ease of access from all Bot machines.
Both of these backup processes will take less than 5 minutes normally.
