This article will explain how to troubleshoot resolve the following error when using the Query From Excel advanced command: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine'

Prerequisites: 
None

Symptoms: 
When attempting to extract data from an Excel file using the Query from Excel advanced command, an error is generated in the advanced command error variable containing: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.

Cause: 
The The ACE provider is not installed on the Windows operating system.

Resolution:
Download and install one of the following ACE installation files provided by Microsoft depending on the version of office you have installed on the machine (either 64-bit (x64) or 32-bit (x86) version):

Once installed, restart your machine.

 

Note: The Access 2016 runtime should, in most cases, be the correct file.
