How to quickly adjust your mainframe emulator window to a specific size to optimize visual automation.
Prerequisites: A mainframe emulator
Steps:

If you are automating a mainframe emulator you may find that resizing the window causes text to be scaled, which will interfere with the visual elements of your step recordings. This can be a particular problem if your developers are not working on the same system which the robot will use when the process goes live.

To help your developers, you can align the window size of your emulator instances quickly and easily using WinSpy which can be found in your Kryon Studio installation folder at C:Program FilesKryon StudioWinSpyWinSpy.exe. (The path may be slightly different if you chose a non-default location for your installation.)

First, you need to find out what the window size is on the robot machine.

  • Load WinSpy.

  • Drag the target over the window.

  • Note the dimensions that appear in WinSpy.

On another copy of your mainframe emulator:

  • Load WinSpy.

  • Drag the target over the window.

  • Press the "..." next to the dimensions.

  • Set the new window size using the numbers captured earlier.

  • Click Adjust.
