Minimode Link "No Activity Steps..." Disclaimer Issue

This week and last week, I notice the mini-mode links I’m sending to users result in a map disclaimer stating, “No activity steps have been added to this process yet.” The process is complete (though not published) in Nintex Process Manager. When the users select the “Map” tab or “Procedure” tab, the underlying data loads beautifully but something is preventing it from loading it initially. Users feel the link is broken and confusion as well as excess work results. Can you troubleshoot this recent issue for me, please?

Hi @CobEva25,

Based on how mini-mode links work in Nintex Process Manager, this usually comes down to which version of the process the link was generated from, rather than the process being unpublished.

A few important points to be aware of:

  • Before a process is published, each saved version (sub-version) has its own unique share link.

If changes are made after the link is created, that original mini-mode link will still point to the earlier version, which may not yet contain activity steps. This can trigger the “No activity steps have been added…” message on initial load.

  • Once a process is published, the mini-mode link becomes persistent and will always resolve to the latest published version. In this state, the disclaimer should no longer appear.

  • If you need to share in-progress (draft) versions, a new share link must be generated for each version you want users to view. Reusing an older link will not automatically reflect newer edits.

What I’d suggest checking:

  1. Confirm whether the mini-mode link was created before the latest changes were made.

  2. If the process is still in draft, generate a new share link from the latest version.

  3. If you want a stable link for broader sharing, publish the process and reuse the published mini-mode link going forward.

This behaviour is consistent with how Process Manager handles versioned sharing and is outlined in the sharing documentation:

https://help.nintex.com/en-US/promapp/Processes/ShareProcess.htm

That should help eliminate the confusion users are experiencing and avoid the impression that the link is broken.
