Why doesn't my linked Process on the Process Map have an expand/merge icon?

The Process Merge feature is not available for linked Processes that are unpublished.
If the Process Map has a merge icon but isn't able to expand, make sure that the source Process and the linked Process are published. If it's unpublished but has been published before, it will display the latest published version.
