Background: I have a workflow with a form start. It includes an assign task to multiple users and a get task that are in a parallel path. I’m using create a text string to create a URL that shows up in the SharePoint list for the user to select and edit the task form.

Issue: I need the user to be able to use the link to update the form more than once. At this time, They can click the URL make and make an update. This update shows in SharePoint but doesn't relay on the form. When they use the URL to go in a second time to update the changes from update 1 aren't there and they can not update and save an update 2. The docx attached contains an image, this is the workflow for the task. What do i need to edit in order for the user to be able to update the task form multiple times and the form to save those changes in the form not just on the SharePoint list.

  Hi @Depar72,

The issue here is that once a task is actioned, you cannot update it. Only by saving the task form can it be closed and reopened, but this save is only for the person who saved it.

I would keep reissuing the task using the branch-by-stage configuration.
Every time the task is actioned, the workflow checks the outcome.
If the outcome if not complete it re-issues the task again and updates the SharePoint URL to the new task form.
It sounds like the Task is being populated by a SharePoint item. When a task is created, it will be created with the latest information from SharePoint, which means it will pick up the previous updates.

The workflow would look something like the attached screenshot.

Thank you so much!! For the check task outcome that is Branch by Value, do you know the variable I would use there?

Hi @Depar72,

You will see in my previous screenshot that I have a set a variable action after the task action.
You create your own variable and set the outcome of the task to this variable. Screenshot attached.
