We have a few on premises SQL Servers that are currently used by Nintex Workflow.  They are due for a upgrades and/or migration to new servers (Windows OS upgrades, possibly SQL Server version upgrades).  What would be the impact on the Nintex connections?

When I look at the connection definition, it appears that I can edit the connection and set a new database host name, if that name changes at all.  Could it be that simple?  Or is there anything else to re-configure?

Hi @PabloL,

Unfortunately, just changing the connection string is just the tip of the iceberg.
Just like SharePoint databases, Nintex databases need to be migrated (not just moved).

The migration process is a backup and restore, and the steps can be found here.

I see what you are trying to explain, but I think this article does not apply to me.  My SQL databases are separate things, not related to the installation of Nintex Workflow or SharePoint.  We are on the cloud version of Nintex Workflow.  These SQL databases are only used to store some of the data that we want stored for reporting purposes.

Hi @PabloL

Sorry for my misunderstanding.
If the database is only being used for storage, then yes, just changing the connection to the database in your workflow(s) will be sufficient.
