Currently, there is no option to send alerts to the workflow initiator.
This is because a workflow initiator is generally a tenant participant and has no access to fix the error.

+1Agree from troubleshooting prospect, user with Workflow Owner permission would normally pick up ideally. In the big organisation, the form initiator usually the one who really care about if something went wrong about his own request, so it would be great having a feature enabling workflow alert on failure to the form initiator, this can address proactively. Hopefully there will be a feature or better way to handle this.
