Error "Sorry something went wrong. The imported workflow is a List workflow and cannot be used as a Site workflow"

When trying to import a workflow, the following error might occur:

Error, Sorry something went wrong "The imported workflow is a List workflow and cannot be used as a Site workflow"

The workflow needs to be imported at the list level.

Create a new SharePoint list, or select an existing list.
Go to List menu at top, left side of SharePoint Page.
From the top ribbon, select Workflow settings and click on Create a Workflow in Nintex Workflow.
Import Workflow.
