Error: "Failed to start" when starting a conditional workflow with the System Account.

ISSUE

When starting a conditional workflow, the below error occurs.

 

Error: Failed to start

RESOLUTION

The conditional workflow was started with the System Account, which is not allowed in SharePoint. Please follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

 

Nintex Workflow 2013:

 

Central Administration - Nintex Workflow Management - Global Settings - Conditional workflow settings - Allow "System Account" to trigger conditional workflows.

 

Nintex Workflow 2016:

 

Central Administration - Nintex Administration - Security - Conditional Workflow settings - Allow "System Account" to trigger conditional workflows.
