Why isn't Nintex Workflows 2016 based on the Provided Hosted Application model?

Nintex Workflow 2016, runs on the legacy Sharepoint Workflow engine, this is the same engine as found in 2013 and 2010, this was done to ensure there is parity between the different Sharepoint versions, so that a workflow from a previous version of Nintex workflows i.e. 2010 and 2013 can be migrated into Nintex Workflows 2016 with ease.
