What is the communication method from SharePoint 2013/2016 to Nintex Live when using the Document Generation action?

Nintex Azure External Start will be the proxy for all requests to Nintex Live through the Document Generation action. Communication between Nintex Azure External Start and SharePoint is secured through a TLS connection, and the Document Generation service does not store or persist any customer data; the data only exists in memory for the life of the request (typically about 20 seconds, depending on the document package and data). The generated documents are retained for only the time the workflow engine waits for the action to complete and retrieves the files.
