Unable to parse item Properties/Variables in Query XML

Hi all,

I tried to insert reference in my Query XML and I keep getting the same output as the name of my item Properties or Workflow variables. If I copy and paste the whole XML from my repeatable section field, it outputs fine, but not when I insert my item properties or Workflow Variables. Any advice?
