🎥 Watch the video above or follow the steps below to learn how to add text, create a new custom tag, and add it directly inside an existing document.

🛠️ Scenario: Add a thank you message and user email tag

A document your team has been using for a while now needs a small update:

  • Add a short thank you note at the end
  • Display the user’s email address under their name

Let’s walk through how to make those changes, without ever leaving Nintex DocGen. First, open the document package to be edited.

✅ Step 1: Create a new tag

To start, we’ll create a custom tag for the user’s email address.

  1. Open the Tagger.
  2. Define the tag as User Email Address.
  3. Click Add. You’ll see it appear at the bottom of the tag list.
  4. Click Save.

✏️ Step 2: Edit the template and add the tag

Now that the tag is ready, let’s edit the template itself.

  1. Click Edit on the document template you want to update.
  2. In Word, open the Nintex Tagger from the Add-Ins toolbar.
  3. Place your cursor where the email address should go.
  4. Find the User Email Address tag and click the plus (+) icon to insert it into the document.

💬 Step 3: Add the additional text

Scroll to the end of your letter and type in your closing message. Feel free to customize the note for your brand tone and client relationship style.

🔄 Step 4: Refresh and Save

Once you’ve made your edits:

  1. Return to the Apps/Workflow tab in Nintex DocGen.
  2. You may need to refresh the page to see your updates reflected.
  3. When everything looks good, click Save.

That’s it! 🎉
