Hi,

With the closure of EWS later this year, what are K2 doing to address this issue?

We have EWS utilised throughout our Workflows for approvals etc.

I had a K2 Support ticket in last year (October 2025) asking about this the answer was that the Product team is aware and there will be a solution to this.

We need to plan for whatever solution K2 provide, but with the October 2026 deadline and no further news from K2, I’d like to start looking into this sooner than later.

Any other customers in the same boat?

Thanks

Hi.

Support was added to use MSGraph for Exchange Online in 5.8.1, which is what Microsoft recomends. Please see the What’s New 5.8.1. under the New Features section:
https://help.nintex.com/en-US/nintexautomation/icg/5.8.1/Content/Whats-New.htm

This only affects Exchange Online and not Exchange Onprem which will still use EWS. Thus EWS was not removed or replaced, but MSGraph support was added alongside EWS.

You have a few options.
Using the Exchange Online Feature:
https://help.nintex.com/en-US/nintexautomation/userguide/5.8.1/Content/K2-Management-Site/Features/Exchange.htm
From 5.8.1, it will automatically use MSGraph for any new instances registered. There is an option to Migrate when you have an existing instance setup for EWS.

You also have the option to set it up manually if you have special requirements and want to tailor it to your needs.
See “Integrating the product with Exchange Online using MSGraph and OAuth with lesser permissions”:
https://help.nintex.com/en-US/nintexautomation/icg/5.8.1/Content/Configure/ExchangeOnline/ExchangeOnlineManual.htm

I hope that helps

Thanks

Thanks Thinus,

We use exchange online and we are on v5.7 currently.

What’s the recommended path?

Also noticed the dates are wrong under the compatibility matrix for 5.8.1 for standard and extended support, those say 2025 and 26 which doesn’t seem right

Product Standard support lifecycle begins Standard support lifecycle ends (End of life) End of extended support
Nintex Automation K2 (5.9) 2 December 2025 31 December 2027 31 December 2029
Nintex Automation K2 (5.8.1) 30 April 2025 31 December 2025 31 March 2026

Hi @Sharpharp1

5.8.1 is a short-term release, so it will only be supported until the next long-term release (5.9). If you are on 5.7, you can upgrade to 5.8 and then 5.8.1, or wait for 5.9, which will be released in the first half of this year (2026).

HTH,

Gem
