Thank you for the links.  However, I am still not 100% sure on how to create the field first.  I see that I need to create a view, and drag the drop down contol over to the view, is that correct?  How do i actually create the field first though?

What are the requirements for this field? You can configure a static list of values in the control, or you can configure a data source to populate the list. You can use an existing SmartObject if you already have one that contains the options, or you can create a SmartBox SmartObject that will exist in the K2 database.
