Anyone had this before?

Its preventing forms from loading: Hostlogs saying 10702 An error occurred in the ADService2 Service Instance.

K2 Service and IIS restarted, makes no difference.

Also refreshed the adservice just in case, still a problem

Any ideas?

Hello  @Sharpharp1,

I have never had this before but to help I have gathered some few articles with the 10702 error which is similar to yours.

You can go through them if you havn't, hopefully they become of great help to you.

Hi Bes,

Thanks, but the first two link don't have answers, the last link is not relevent, as the form rules which use the AD Getusersbygroup method has a filter to minimise traffic.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,

I have not come across this error "A device attached to the system is not functioning" before, but this seems like an Active Directory or environmental issue. It may be helpful to also check the Event Viewer logs for any related error(s).

If you remove the filter, it works ok. But if you add a filter to the Getusersbygroup method, then it fails.

This was working perfectly fine for a long time, as part of another ticket open with K2, we were asked to installed FixPack 42, since then all this hassle with forms not loading and searches not working has come by way.

Not sure what to think about K2 anymore... 90% off my time is troubleshooting K2 bug after bug

Hello,

I found the following external links that may help with troubleshooting.

This deals with a multi-server farm if this applies:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/f0dd70ba-02d2-400d-a6f7-5a9d5c049256/device-attached-to-the-system-not-functioning?forum=winservergen

It looks like it could be a SAMAccountName being passed that is too large:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3095510/creating-a-user-in-active-directory-a-device-attached-to-the-system-is-not-func

Also, if we execute from the Service Tester, with both filters and Input Properties do we see the same issue? I am wondering if we are on a multi machine setup if one of the servers doesn't have the required file installed to allow for assistance.

Lastly, I believe this was already mentioned, but EventViewer should provide us with a little more information hopefully.

Hi,

1) Not a multi server farm, simple single standalone server

2) SAMAccount name is fine, as one minute it works, other times its not (with same account)

Nothing in the event logs.

The Method works everytime without a filter. As soon as a filter is added (based on Domain/Username), it either works or it doesn't.

I've enabled Smo logging now to see if that brings back any info.

Hi Sharp

I would recommend switching on Smartobject logging (http://help.k2.com/kb000298 ) and then executing the Smartobject method again with the Filter enabled.

This would surface what values are getting passed as this could be that the values are passed incorrectly and then this error is raised

If you are unsure on determine the value getting passed, please contact K2 Support to assist.
