Hi - we tried! Nintex helped us to create a connection. It took many months to get it working, and even once it was up and running, I found it wasn’t working well enough to rely on. For example, certain columns from the SharePoint list weren’t available in the model and no one could emphatically determine why. That was earlier this year.
This is just our experience, and it may have had something to do with our SharePoint set up or permissions.
In any case, I am hoping Nintex come up with an ‘out of the box’, reliable way to connect to SharePoint lists and libraries. It would be especially great if you could view SharePoint library files as thumbnails within a Nintex Apps page 👌🏻.
Thank you for the info. We received some documentation on setting up the connection and are looking at whether we want to use Nintex or PowerApps at least until a built-in connector is available. From what I understand it is being developed. So good news!!!
@seanobryant65 thanks for your question, and for providing some details about your specific use case!
We are in the process of implementing a SharePoint connector for apps. The initial scope we are focusing on is interacting with SharePoint lists as a data store (the highest requested use case as our customers transition from SharePoint based ecosystems), followed by interactions with files (which introduces additional complexities like file previews and client side file uploads). From a progress standpoint, we’re not quite ready to release this to customers, but when we do I’d be happy to include you in an Early/Advanced preview.
In the meantime, since your first use case is managing documents in a SharePoint library, the pre-release likely won’t be sufficient for your needs if you need something quickly. “Rolling your own” connector via REST will start to break down as you come up against the same file transfer and UX challenges.
FWIW, we certainly want to get to where you can solve the use case in apps, so thanks for staying engaged.
