I think the performance would be faster in VS2017 for large process diagrams.
When can we expect process designer to be usable with VS2017?

Unfortunately I cannot give you an exact timeline of when VS 2017 will be supported as we test third party software during the release cycle of our main product build. Due to VS 2017 being shipped very recently it will need to go through a full QA cycle and as such no guarantee can be given on when we will support it.
