Hello K2 Community -

We will be implementing K2 4.7 soon and I am working on pulling together our internal K2 governance. I would greatly appreciate any guidance you would be willing to provide. Maybe I am approaching this wrong but I cannot seem to find anything related to this topic online. Who should be responsible for managing (e.g., creating, deleting, etc.) Service Types and Service Instances?

What are your thoughts? How would you define these? Thank you in advance for your time.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Anyone has access to the management page or K2 server can modify Service instances/types.

Let me know if I misunderstood your question

Hello Mustafa -

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I think you may have misunderstood but I am not certain. The question was related to governance and how to best manage Service Types and Service Instances. It seems if everyone has the ability to do so we run the risk of our K2 environment becoming unmanaged. Maybe the question should be rephrased - how do we allow only certain individuals in your organization the ability to create/modify/delete Service Types and Service Instances?

Brian

Hi Brian,

2 places where you can interact with service instances:

1- Management page

Only users with Admin rights on the K2 Server will be able to Add,Edit or Delete service instances

For server rights please refer to this document:

https://help.k2.com/onlinehelp/K2ForSharePoint/UserGuide/4.7/default.htm#K2_Management_Site/Workflow_Server/Server_%20Rights.htm

2- SmartObject Tester Tool

User will need access to the K2 environment/Server to open this tool, if you have access to the server itself then you can open this tool and modify service instances/types, you cannot lockdown this tool .

For more information about this tool:

Note: Service types cannot be managed from the management page (read only)

Hope I answered your question
