Topic
How to authenticate the DocuSign connection from Nintex Workflow for Office 365?

Instructions

  1. Within the DocuSign actions, there is an 'Authorizing user' field.
  2. DocuSign will send an authentication email to the user specified in the 'Authorizing user' field.
  3. Once they authenticate Nintex for Office 365, the app will stay authenticated until the workflow is updated and re-published, at which point another authentication email will be sent.

Additional Information
What happens in the authorization process?

  1. When the action runs, an email with the below content is sent to the email address selected for the Authorizing user.

From: notification@nintexlive.com
Subject: Contains phrases "Nintex Live" and "Request authorization".
Contents: Contains links to authorize or deny the operation.

  1. When the link to provide authorization is clicked the user is prompted to do the following:
    a. Log in to the external service.
    b. Allow Nintex Live to access the external service.
    c. Option to stop receiving future authorization requests for the service.

What happens if authorization is not provided?
If the authorization is not provided for one of the following reasons, the workflow is suspended.

  • The authorizing user denies the authorization request by:
    • Clicking the deny link in the email received.
    • Not allowing Nintex live to access the external service.

The workflow is suspended with the error: "The service request has been denied".

  • Authorization is not provided within 7 days after the authorization request is sent.
    • The authorizing user never clicks the authorize link in the email message.
    • The authorizing user initiates the process by clicking the link but does not complete all steps. For example, the authorizing user logs in to the external service but does not complete the step to allow Nintex Live to access the external service.

The workflow is suspended with the error "The service request has expired".

How to reauthenticate if a wrong DocuSign account is used to authorize the request:
There can be occasions where the users accidentally authenticate the request using wrong DocuSign authorization account. The following options can be user to re-authenticate with the intended DocuSign account:

Option 1: Publish as a new workflow

  • To avoid the need to reconfigure all settings and actions from scratch, you can export the existing workflow, import it, and publish it with a new name.

Option 2: Revoke the existing authorization manually

  • Go to: https://account.docusign.com/me/appconsent . Please login using the same DocuSign account that was used to authorize.
  • Revoke the Nintex O365 – DocuSign application
  • Wait 8 hours before running the workflow again
  • After 8 hours, the user will receive a new authentication email, and they can log in to the correct DocuSign account

Option 3: Let the token expire

  • Wait 30 days for the current refresh token to expire. After 30 days, user should receive a new authorization email
