Flash will no longer be supported by Salesforce Dec 2020

I am also going to impacted by this change for DocGen.  I hope information will be released soon for an update or work around.

@NYoung and @himes - We have available now a new Lightning Experience DocGen Package Designer (LEDD) for managing your docgen packages in Salesforce Lightning that removes the dependency for Flash. You can find more details here:

The new Designer is currently still in Beta, expected to be GA released around April 2020 when we plan to wrap up support for all document template options when configuring a DocGen Package. 

We are still using Classic.  Will it be required to go to Lighting or will accomodation be made for those of us still using Classic.

@himes - We are shifting all new feature development for DocGen Package management now to focus on the Lightning experience within LEDD. Once Salesforce (Oct '20) and browsers (Chrome in Dec '20) stop supporting Flash, you will be required to us Lighting to manage your templates. Other features that do not use Flash, such as Delivery Options, you can still manage in Classic.

We still use classic primarily, but can use lightning if needed.

I have tried using the new lightning designer page in our testing org, but it is still be in Beta. Will the next release include this as the actual page? (we're on version 16.6)

Also is there an alternative where we could continue managing from classic without the need to switch to lightning just for this?

We're continuing to work on improvements to the Lightning Designer interface. Recently we introduced support for managing template files stored in Sharepoint Online/Office 365, it is available as of v16.6 which you have now. Our goal is by Nov 1st to complete support the remaining template management features, notably connecting data from Salesforce Reports, and Excel as Middleware. Once these features are in place we'll release a new version with the "Beta" label removed. 

The Lightning Designer was built with Salesforce Lightning in mind, and will be made available in the Lightning Experience. You can still manage other features in Classic, such as Delivery Options, Component Groups, PDF Stamps, or Insert-Updates, only template management will be need to be done in Lightning. We will still keep the option found under the DocGen Admin tab to enable or disable the Lightning Designer, so within Lightning you can switch between the Classic and Lighting designers as needed without having to switch between Salesforce Classic or Lightning experiences.
