What I have is a Nintex form. When it is saved two workflows are started. They work fine. The network is very slow so I have a lag period from when the form is closed (White empty spot is seen for 5 - 10 seconds) and when the list is seen. I would like to be able to 1. Change the cursor to indicate something is working. or 2. Show a dialog box that lets the user know that something is working. Just something to ease the user.

I am not sure about Option 1 but for Option 2 have you tried adding a confirmation message on the save button?
In the Nintex Forms designer click on the Save button to bring up its configuration. In the advanaced section you will see the field where you can add a confirmation message.
The third option would be to look into why the environment is slow and resolve it.
