You need VS.Net and IIS on the machine you're installing K2.net Studio on, for K2.net Smartforms to be installed automatically with K2.net Studio.

If you want to take advantage of SmartForms and K2 integration to the VS IDE you cannot have VS 2003 and K2 on 2 different machines.
I think the misunderstanding was that you can develop K2 solutions using VS on a seprate machine - but that means your solution will be without the K2 integration with VS and without K2 SmartForms and controls.
