Symptoms


Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool
 

Diagnoses


When attempting to load Smartforms, the following error is thrown:

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
 

Resolution

We identified 6 process instances that were stuck in a running state:

1. We stopped the K2 blackpearl service
2. Place the 6 running process instances identified into a stop state using SQL update statement
3. Started the K2 blackpearl service back up, which restored operations to some of the areas experiencing the "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool" error
4. These process instances will be addressed accordingly
