Symptoms
The following error was thrown when entering site collection URL in “Add List Item Reference” wizard from K2 Designer.
“The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.”
Diagnoses
The issue was caused by K2 smartforms Designer app pool account does not have appropriate permission on the site collection.
Resolution
Adding K2 smartforms Designer app pool account as site collection admin for that site resolved the issue.
