Good suggestion on the data format ‌. Is it mainly the calendar control? In View mode? Calculated value?

Hi Tom Castiglia

Some answers to your questions.

Anyway, here is my feedback so far:

  1. Responsive Designer is much faster.  Create layouts in 50% (or less) of time needed compared to Pixel Perfect designer.  Its so nice not to get bogged down in exact location of every control, and configuring a separate label and resizing controls in a nitpicky manner.  This is a big win.
This is great to hear. The three design goals of Responsive Forms were "Fast to design", "Modern Look", "Responsive". Sounds like we nailed the "Fast" part.
  2. Responsive Designer only allows two columns of controls.  I assume this is by design?
We actually support 4 columns. You can hover over a control and resize controls.
  3. Responsive Designer only allows labels above each control.  Not to left or below the control.  Is this by design?  Any plans to allow different label placements in the future?  (It is nice to not worry about manipulating each label separately.)
    Good suggestion.
  4. Many of our forms use repeating sections and panels.  I know these features are coming.  Any ETA for these yet?
We are currently working on panels and repeating sections. Hoping to get another drop in a couple of weeks.
  5. We often create "tabbed" forms, using option buttons styled as buttons/tabs.  In O365 this technique relies on some custom CSS.  But CSS is not supported in Responsive Forms.  Will something like the "Render as buttons" feature be available soon?
We are discussing multi-page forms internally but its a pretty big feature. I hear this request a lot however.
  6. I believe I found a bug if using a Choice field, configured as a Drop Down list with "Allow 'Fill In choices" enabled.  In Responsive forms, it does not allow you to select the option for "Specify your own value".
Yep. I will get the team to look into it.

For the date control, be able to select the format that it would be displayed. Such as MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YYYY, so on and so forth.

If we are truly moving away from JS, we will need the ability to transform the data (for any control) so that it is displayed how we need it. Dates are the primary concern for me simply because the default format is generally not liked by most.

The same goes for people picker controls. I would like to have the ability to have them displayed differently than DOMAIN/USER; perhaps something like LastName, FirstName.

‌ here is my feedback
Pixel Perfect -
12 minutes. I created everything from the form and didn't do a reset of the form because I wanted to
truly see how long it would take me from nothing, to a workable form. I used the format painter for
all my labels, and form controls to get them all the same, which saved time.  Normally I would create all my SP Columns before I create the form which saves a lot of time, but for the sake of the challenge I went long hand.
+4 minutes to create 1 Nintex Mobile layout. Not sure if we were supposed to add that in for this challenge, but this would be normal for me to create this.
My Label and controls came over to this layout all over the place so It took time to move them all around.
pixel
Responsive
4 mins.
I created the form the same way, so I created all my SP Columns from the the form and drang/drop them on, and nice I didn't have to create more than one layout. It was easy and fast to get a nice 2 column layout without having to mess with getting all the controls in the right place to look nice. For a basic form like this
it was snappy and easy.
responsive
My Preview form Did not work. It would not load the preview either.
Things it needs
- some jQuery Type Controls like Tabs, without CSS this is not an option like in pixel perfect. Because I can at least style a control to mimic tabs in pixel perfect.
-Pagging

- CSS or at least call an external stylesheet, and just add the classes to the labels and controls.

- The ability to span more than one column in a zone. If you look at my label header it would be nice to be able to grab it and span 2 columns so it is all on one line.

I am just thinking of bootstrap for example how when you are layout out your responsive page you can do Col2 or Col3 for example and your zone for your text would span 2 columns or 3 columns in that area.

- Panels or the ability to set a rules/properties on a zone.
-Repeating Sections
- Bigger textbox for multiline, the one now is way to small
- Option to place the label(Top, Side, In the control)
- Same for Description (Under or in the control as placeholder text)

Thanks for the links, its nice to see how others are looking at design, etc.

Forum|alt.badge.img+8

Euan - Regarding item #1, you've certainly nailed all 3.  Besides fast design, it does have a great modern look and feel and its clearly responsive as well.  Overall it seems quite stable as well, with just a few glitches.  The key features that I think are critical for v1 release would be:

  • Support for option buttons with the render as button setting (like we have in Nintex Forms 2013/2016), so we can create a tabbed form and simulate pages like we can do today.
  • Panels to group controls
  • Repeating section
  • Set Field Value feature in Rules
  • "Full Preview" (work the kinks out)

True support for multi-pages forms would be greatly appreciated in the future, but I get that is a big feature.  The basic Tabs to show/hide panels would be sufficient for now to simulate a multi-page form.
