Resolution
This issue is related to KB001708 - http://help.k2.com/kb001708 - there is a coldfix you can download from that page.
Please note that the v2 release of 4.6.10 has already been released on the official Portal download page and this fix is included in that package, so if your version ends with xx.2 (can be checked in Programs and Features) then there is no need to install this coldfix.
