I am working on upgrading from SP 2010 to 2013.Would like to know the sequence of steps for visual upgrade. Let us know if we have to go with Option 1 or 2?

Option 1

  1. Mount SP content db
  2. Visual Upgrade SP Site
  3. Restore and Map Nintex db's

Option 2

  1. Mount SP content db
  2. Restore and Map Nintex db's
  3. Visual Upgrade SP Site

Option 2.
The site collection has to be in place before you can upgrade it.
This means you have to attach the database first so that the site collection is available to upgrade.

I am clear that SharePoint Content db must be attached before visual upgrade.

Do Nintex require visual upgrade? Based on this we can decide the sequence option 1 or 2

Thank you for thr clarification.
Nintex does not need a Visual upgrade as it has a backward compatibility feature that can be activated if you need to run in 2010 look and feel in 2013.
