Deleting a Service Instance from Management without first deleting its SmartObjects leaves them orphaned and unremovable.
Diagnoses
Can only be done server-side, requiring exact details about the SmartObjects and Categories.
Resolution
Remove SmartObjects before deleting their Service Instance. If you are already stuck with orphaned SmartObjects, submit a support ticket detailing the exact SmartObjects/Categories to be removed.
