Is it a requirement to install Smartforms client components on each server in the K2 and SharePoint farm that has the SharePoint Web Role enabled?

Sharepoint 2010 - Yes . The K2 For Sharepoint component needs to be installed on each of the SP Servers in the SP Farm
Sharepoint 2013 - No . No K2 components get installed on the Sharepoint Servers , other than the AppDeployment.exe that get's run once
