How to proceed with workflow with a form already initiated but then its been saved before ever get submitted
 

Diagnoses

We have users now requesting to save a workflow Smartform in its initiated state before proceeding to the actual workflow. I suppose we can saved the initial form prior to the user's submission as a pdf file to be stored in a Doc Library. When the saved form is retrieved, user continues to edit the form and when the user clicks submit, will the workflow proceed properly as if it has never been saved? So this means that the folio information must also be saved along into the PDF file, correct?


 

Resolution


Saving a partially filled form in a smart object instead of a pdf file, and then allowing the users to go back and edit...reopen the form with the data saved in the smartobject. I found this tutorial that might be helpful.

Ultimately you will want a smartobject that will contain all of the partial data that is entered into the form and save that against the user, so they can retrieve it at a later time.
