Is there an about screen somewhere that just tells me what the currently installed version of the K2 host server is?

The easiest way to tell is by looking in Add/Remove programs in the control panel. The current version numbers of the K2 components installed will be listed there.

+4Also checking the "show updates" check box on the add remove programs applet will reveal which update you are running as well.
