Form that returns multiple values based on data entry

I am creating a "lookup" form where users enter an acronym and the form outputs the definition. Lookup function works fine if the user enters an exact match. Is there a better function that outputs a "near miss", or returns all values that begin with the first "x" number of letters from the data a user enters? (I am new at this)
