Symptoms

Error message is being displayed when accessing K2-integrated InfoPath forms:
Error message:
InfoPath cannot open the following file: http://sharepointURL/_layouts/K2/RuntimeServices/OpenInfoPathTask.aspx. The file is not a valid XML file.

Details: The form contains XML that cannot be parsed: Reference to undefined entity 'nbsp'.

Diagnoses

This is known issue described in K2 KB001391: Microsoft InfoPath 2010 SP 1 updates cause InfoPath forms to fail opening in the InfoPath client. Refer to the KB for more details.

 

Resolution

For K2 4.6.2 + Office 2010 SP1 there is a coldfix available upon request from K2 support.

For K2 4.6.2 + Office 2010 SP2 only the following workarounds are possible:
- Uninstall SP2 for Office 2010
- Change InfoPath integration event so that form opens in browser:

- Upgrade to newer version of K2 (4.6.7+)
