Symptoms

Error in Package and deployment does not indicate what smartobject has error out

Diagnoses

We are finding when deploying smartobjects using the Package and deployment utility, if any external database schema is out of date for specific smartobjects deployed , an error message occurs during post-deployment of PandD.

This in itself is understandable, however the problem is the Package and deployment status log indicates all Smartobjects are deployed successfully, while a general error is displayed at the Post-deployment stage, indicating an error with the parent, however there is no specific information about which smartobject is in error. This requires further troubleshooting to isolate which SmartObject is in error.

It would be very useful to identify specific Smartobjects in error, within the PandD deployment status log.

Resolution

We linked this to a enhancement requirement
(Bug 655530: PandD - Post deployment message enhancement required: Dependency could not be created: System.Exception: Dependency could not be created. Parent does not exist in this environment. Check Data property of exception.)
