Symptoms

Error while installing K2 blackpearl (in Setup Manager). Error message :- port 5555 already in use.
 

Diagnoses

We tried to change to a different port but that didn't help.

We used netstat -a -b on Command Prompt to check if there is some other application using the ports.

We made sure the firewall was switched off.
 

Resolution

It seemed like all ports were blocked on the current server even to internal programs. The K2 Blackpearl Setup Manager just couldn't bind to port 5555

A new virtual server was requisitioned.
