Can somebody let me know if there is any default expiration time if I don't set escalation rules? If yes, what is the amount of time, and does K2 resend the job to the same person after timeout if he/she belongs to single-person group?

If I'm not mistaken, I think an Escalation will fire immediately if you do not specify an Escalation rule - that is, immediately when the Activity is instantiated. I have not tested this though.
K2.net does not re-send the worklistitem - unless you make use of the Redirect Escalation.
