Symptoms

Need to know the proper way to migrate old databases to version 4.6.8. New databases will be on a different SQL server.

Diagnoses

I worked with the user to get the plan working. We fixed some issues in the dev environment

Resolution

I sent him some steps to follow:

Here are the detailed steps on how to upgrade to production:

1. If the K2 Server Version is older than 4.5.1420 upgrade the K2 Server to 4.5.1420 first.
2. Once the K2 Version if upgraded to 4.5.1420 you can jump to K2 Server 4.6.*
3. Move the databases to the new SQL Servers.
4. Grant DBO, Datareader, Datawriter, Secadmin, Dbcreator to the K2 Service Account.
5. Grant, DBO, Datareader, Datawriter to the account performing the installation.
4. Run the Symmetric Keys script (This needs to be executed if you move the databases).
5. Run the K2 Setup Manager in the old servers and point the databases to the new SQL servers.
6. Install K2 Server 4.5.1420 in the new servers as part of the farm.
7. Remove the old K2 Server from the farm.
8. Upgrade the new K2 Server from 4.5.1420 to K2 Server 4.6.8.
