Cannot start K2 blackpearl service after upgrading from 4.6.11 to 4.7
 

Diagnoses

After a automatic upgrade of blackpearl, it is not possible to start the K2 blackpearl service. Eventlog notifications are:

1 An item with the same key has already been added.
2001 Error Starting Host Server: An item with the same key has already been added.


 

Resolution

You can resolve by going into the hostserver.exe.config file and check to see if the smoservices was set to true. If this is the case, please do set this to false and please do a K2 service restart.
This could have changed during the upgrade of K2 itself. The smo services will need to be configured. You can have a look at the two docs below on how to do this.
