I am trying to delete a variable in a workflow because it is not longer needed.  Workflow designer won't let me delete the variable because  it says the variable is in use by a Initiate Workflow action.     I can't find any action labeled Imitate Workflow.

Any ideas?

I also have this problem and I do not use this variable on a start form.

Same thing happened to me!

I had a workflow with variables required on start and has customised the start form to include them on.  A couple of weeks later the spec was changed and I no longer needed some of them.  I edited the start form again and removed them but still I couldn't delete the variables from the workflow and was getting the same message about "Initiate workflow".

I published my workflow without any references to the variables on the start from or anywhere else in the workflow and closed designer.  when I went back in to the workflow I was able to delete the variables.

Thank you cassy for your feedback. I think I tried this way without more success, but I'll try again.
