Can I keep a cascading list updated with an Excel file?

Using Sharepoint Online/Nintex. I have built 2 lists for cascading purposes, that I use within a Nintex form.

1 list is "Team."  The other list is "Associates" which refer to a particular Team.

Those Teams and Associates (mainly), change often.  Rather than manually going in on a daily/weekly basis to update, I am wondering if I can have those lists refer to an Excel file I have saved on the Site?

The Excel file is a direct pull from an Associate/Team listing.  Ideally, my lists would be updated from this.  Or if I can get by with just one list that can provide cascading feature, that would be great.

Possible?

@anderj39 .......using calculated columns and different views you can use cascading with 1 list.

The calculated columns would be updated by the Excel file?

How can I make this happen? What calculation and views and 1 list would I create?
